AROC is a grassroots organization working to empower and organize our community towards justice and self-determination for all. AROC members build community power in the Bay Area by participating in leadership development, political education, and campaigns. AROC is a fiscally sponsored project of Tides Center.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
o Campaign coordination
o Member political education
o Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers from AROC membership and supporters
o Outreach on street, public events, and community gathering spaces
o Coordinate production and distribution of flyers, posters, and other materials to increase visibility
o Develop and maintain relationships with key community leaders
o Coordinate mass mailing, phone banking, and tabling days
o Improve and maintain existing tracking systems for members and volunteers
o Fluent or conversant in both English and Arabic
o Familiar with San Francisco and the Bay Area’s Arab communities. Experience living or working in the Tenderloin is preferable.
o 1-2 years working in office and organizing settings
o Comfortable speaking in public and making cold-contact with individuals
o Works well in a team, and is able to provide support and supervision to volunteers
o Basic computer skills
o Experience in community organizing and/or campaign work, interest in grassroots fundraising a plus
o Event coordination experience
o Walking up stairs, frequent travel around San Francisco, filing, typing, light lifting.
