Summer and Fall Semesters 2019
The Arab Resource and Organizing Center (AROC) is looking for college and law student interns for its dynamic legal services program!
AROC is a grassroots organization working to empower and organize our community towards justice and self-determination for all. AROC’s members build community power in the San Francisco Bay Area by participating in leadership development, political education, and campaigns. We also provide essential legal support and select case management services to our local low-income Arab and Muslim community.
AROC’s legal service team is at the forefront in defending the rights of Muslim and Arab immigrants and refugees, confronting the current climate of xenophobia and Islamophobia. We are looking for an intern who is self-motivated, responsible, and committed to immigrant rights, racial and economic justice. The intern will be working under the direct supervision of our staff attorneys and will be involved in:
- Supporting with removal defense cases in immigration court
- Preparing immigration forms with clients
- Assisting with administrative and program support
There will also be project opportunities in outreach, education, leadership development and community organizing.
AROC expects a semester-long commitment of at least 8-20 hours per week. This is an unpaid volunteer position. Students may seek funding or credit from their school. Fluency in Arabic is preferred but not required. Start date is flexible. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis.
