In 2009, AYO identified education equity as a campaign area they wanted to focus on. For 2 years they engaged in a youth-led research project that culminated in the publication of their TURATH Report.
The TURATH Report, published in 2012, concluded that Arab students at all levels and ages feeling threatened, harassed, or made invisible or hyper-visible in their educational institutions.
The report identified several key recommendations for changes including those in curriculum, pedagogy, family engagement. One of the primary recommendations was more Arabic language inclusion.
AYO is currently working on TURATH 2.0, with updated findings and recommendations to be released in the Fall of 2019.
